Despite testing among lowest in NY, Syracuse schools make ‘incremental’ improvements

Standardized test scores for third through eighth graders in Syracuse city schools stayed relatively the same as they did last year, but district officials say they are making small improvements overall.
The district has consistently tested among the lowest in the state. Only about 20% of students in SCSD tested proficient in English Language Arts this year, the same amount as last year, according to data reported by the state. The district is ranked 644 out of the 658 districts in the state where data was available for ELA scores.
